I produce retrospective/reviews covering cult movies for my YouTube Channel. The videos I produce are mini documentaries covering all aspects of the production and critical/public reception of the movie I’m reviewing. I discuss the characters, plot, special effects, box office, film reviews, the film’s soundtrack and I sometimes even explore the tie-in entertainment media relating the film, such as the video game adaptations that were produced to coincide with the film’s release.
I also record a film and video game focused podcast on a weekly basis and occasionally put together feature length commentary tracks. I like to give balance when discussing an item, and always seek to emphasise the positive in my reviews, thus giving the viewer a fresh take on material that may otherwise be dismissed by the mainstream media or public perception. In addition to this, I like to thoroughly research any interesting material relating to the productions of the films being reviewed, and I conduct these through book and magazine library archives as well as on the internet.

My boyfriend and I have recently discovered your retrospectives and really enjoy them. Thank you!!!! But we would like less of Siskel & Ebert. While it can be interesting to see the response of mainstream America, it is not worthy of long segments and we tend to find those sections boring and annoying. Especially as we are in Australia and generally relate more to UK/Europe response. On the other hand we do love the comments you make on the back-story and soundtracks. And your selection of movies is great. Please keep giving us more!! Thank you.
Siskel and Ebert are the best you are crazy not to want their comments included. While American movies are covered by American critics if you just look at this as a patriotic look on what only Americans think you are missing the point. These critics are some of the only people that intelligently discussed film and their opinions had nothing to do with where they were located.
I absolutely love your movie reviews. They are the best on all of YouTube. Thank you for your hard work and for your love of retro films. You are an inspiration for me and others as well. God bless!
Oliver your YouTube videos about film are really insightful and brilliant! I wish you the best of luck with your channel and all your future endeavours! Peace!
Thank you very much Paul!. Thanks for taking the time to view my work and leave your feedback 🙂
I have just discovered your reviews on YouTube. Love your style, wit, and variety of clips. I like your references to Siskel and Ebert. I also agree that Terminator 2 may be the best sequel of any movie. Keep it up!
Thanks for your feedback!. I haven’t used Siskel and Ebert clips for a long time in my recent reviews. Its nice to hear you enjoy their opinions but to be honest a lot of my audience hated them lol. That’s why I stopped using them.
Well the public have spoken and Oliver you have got to provide what your audience demands but I have enjoyed seeing the Ebert and Siskel clips. I’m an Australian and came to Roger through his written reviews. I didn’t grew up watching him and Gene spar on camera so I’ve enjoyed it. I wonder if you are familiar with his writings as a Brit? A personal favourite is his review for American Graffitti. http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/american-graffiti-1973
Congratulations from Chile, Oliver! Your Retrospective Review videos are a real pleasure to watch and listen. Every piece is full of information, amusing, smart and very well edited. It’s a really professional work, done with passion and intelligence. I also like the fact that you make reviews of not-so-famous movies, including some forgotten sequels to popular flicks that are worth watching on their own right.
Thanks for sharing your passion and knowledge,
